Dr. Alizadeh & Mission: Restore Featured on ABC News
On November 21, 2011, Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh appeared on ABC News discussing his recent volunteer medical mission to Afghanistan with Mission: Restore, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group’s non-profit organization. In Afghanistan, Dr. Alizadeh performed life-saving reconstructive surgeries and also met with Afghanistan’s Public Health Minister on behalf of Mission: Restore to discuss the development of plastic surgery training programs for Afghani doctors. Afghanistan currently has only two self-trained plastic surgeons in a country of 29 million people.
Mission: Restore has chosen to travel to places where most doctors would not go, to conduct the type of surgeries that most doctors prefer not to perform. The Foundation is comprised of doctors who volunteer their time and expertise at home and abroad. The overarching goal is to create a sustainable infrastructure where long-term relationships are forged and permanent change is made. For more information about Mission Restore, click here.
