Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)

Page Updated:

Arm lift surgery, or brachioplasty, can address a variety of common concerns associated with one’s body contour. Often resulting from the natural aging process, or a dramatic weight loss, our patients desire a sleeker, more toned aesthetic when they find the skin around their arms has lost its elasticity, or stubborn fat deposits just won’t disappear regardless of diet and exercise. Our surgeons can address these issues and provide a more youthful, natural appearance by improving the body’s contour with a brachioplasty, or arm lift surgery.

Often performed in conjunction with liposuction, an arm lift can reshape the upper part of the arm when it negatively impacts an otherwise shapely figure. Our experienced arm lift surgeons have attended some of the most prestigious and respected medical institutions in the world, and are committed to providing you with a slender overall aesthetic supported by slimmer arms that look and feel natural. At New York Plastic Surgical Group, a Division of Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, you will be treated by a team of professionals who are dedicated to the success of your enhancement goals and your ultimate safety and satisfaction.

Arm Lift Procedure

The arm lift surgery typically involves an incision made along the underside of the arm, extending from the armpit to the elbow. By removing stubborn fat pockets and excess skin, the remaining skin is then tightened and drawn together to create a smooth, taut appearance.

Arm lift surgery is often combined with other cosmetic procedures such as liposuction or a tummy tuck to further enhance the patient’s figure and provide a more comprehensive contour reshaping.

Arm Lift Recovery

Patients should expect some pain and discomfort following the arm lift surgery, but this can be managed with medication. Bruising, swelling, and a numbing sensation may occur around the incisions within the first few weeks, so activity should be limited. Because the skin needs time to bond together, special bandages and compression garments will need to be worn, and stitches will usually be removed within 10 days after the surgery. Patients are typically able to return to their normal routines several days to a week following the procedure.

Our plastic surgeons will discuss your specific needs during recovery in further detail throughout the consultation and surgical process.
