Dr. Louis Riina obtained his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Delaware. He then obtained his Medical Degree at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel-Aviv, Israel. His surgical internship was completed at Staten Island University Hospital followed by a fellowship in burn surgery at Nassau University Medical Center.
Dr. Riina completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. He is board certified in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Riina is a member of the American Burn Association and the International Wound Healing Society with expertise in the care of patients after massive weight loss.
Dr. Riina is involved in the training of plastic surgery residents at NUMC and is a member of the faculty at the Nassau University Medical Center Burn Center and the Southside Hospital Wound Care Center.
Dr. Riina has authored numerous publications and has given presentations across the country. Dr. Riina continues to study evolving technologies in the care of burn patients and the latest techniques in plastic and reconstructive surgeries.
