Dr. Roger Simpson is proud to announce that Dr. Abdel Armaiz-Flores has matched as a Post Grad Year 1 (PGY1) into the Integrated Plastic Surgery Program at Nassau University Medical Center/Stony Brook Medicine. Dr. Flores is currently completing his senior year in medical school at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and will begin his PGY 1 on July 1, 2018. His accomplishments include induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, and a two-year research fellowship in translational science at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His thesis, leading to a Master of Science degree, was entitled “iPS cell-derived Schwann cells: differentiation and characterization.”

Dr. Flores’ interests include salsa dancing, meditation, outdoor activities, basketball, business, and finance. His confidence, focused approach to plastic surgery and organizational skills will make him a great asset to the program. Dr. Flores is the first Integrated Program match and complements the four additional outstanding residents that comprise the track: Dr. Donald Groves (PGY2), Dr. Christina Yin (PGY3), Dr. Gabriel Klein (PGY4), and Dr. Ahmed Nasser (PGY5).
