Marianne Amster, CPC,* Director of Billing and Collections at Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (LIPSG), recently founded the Garden City Chapter of the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC). The first AAPC meeting will take place at NYU Winthrop Hospital on September 20, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Spatz Conference Room. Meetings will continue on the third Wednesday of every month. (*Certified Professional Coder)

Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnoses, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. Up-to-date knowledge of medical code supports cleaner claim submission, faster reimbursement, fewer denials, and better run practices and facilities. Support of medical coding is therefore of interest to physicians, hospital administrators, office managers and professional coders.
“Through this new AAPC Chapter, we will help the local medical community by providing a forum for sharing information about medical coding, continuing education opportunities and a platform for networking and discussing mutual challenges and solutions,” said Ms. Amster.

LIPSG practice leadership enthusiastically supports Ms. Amster’s efforts to advance the field of medical coding through community building and continuing education. As the country’s largest private plastic and reconstructive surgery practice, LIPSG is committed to innovation and education. LIPSG doctors educate the surgeons of tomorrow through highly respected residency programs and educate the community through public seminars and the annual Breast Cancer Summit.
