At last month’s American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) meeting, Accurate Surgical Scientific Instruments (ASSI) displayed the Deane Body Contouring Forceps at their vendor booth.

Leland M. Deane, MD, MBA, FACS is a partner at LIPSG, and a specialist in body contouring procedures for over 25 years. A few years ago, Dr. Deane partnered with ASSI to design this body contouring tool for surgeons. Special features of this tool include space at the hinge so tissue flaps won’t be crimped, and the ability to easily approximate the amount of excess tissue to be removed. The unique sharp end allows the instrument to be used under tension and it is long enough to be useful for a variety of body contouring procedures, especially ideal for abdominoplasties.

ASAPS is an organization of approximately 2,600 plastic surgeons worldwide devoted to the advancement of cosmetic surgery. Founded in 1967, their mission includes medical education, public education and patient advocacy. ASAPS sponsors scientific conferences throughout the year.
