This annual lecture is hosted by Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (LIPSG) in memory of Dr. John Knowles Swinburne, who was a partner at LIPSG for 25 years. This event is organized each year by Dr. Laurence Glickman and is attended by surgeons, residents, and supporting medical professionals.

Dr. Swinburne was a member of the practice since 1977 until his passing in 2000. Born in New York City, Dr. Swinburne trained in Boston and Virginia prior to returning to New York with his wife Janet. Dr. Swinburne was on staff at several hospitals in Nassau County, but he was most devoted to North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove where he served as Chief of Plastic Surgery for 15 years. Dr. Swinburne was an outstanding physician and teacher, devoted father and colleague. His interest in Aesthetic Surgery, Trauma, Hand, Microsurgery and Wound Healing was an example to all of us who appreciate the scope and complexity of our craft.
