Undergraduate Education

Dr. Christy completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Drew University College of Liberal Arts in Madison, New Jersey (1984–1988), where he developed a rigorous foundation in biological science that would anchor his future medical training.

Medical School

Dr. Christy earned his Master of Arts from Boston University School of Medicine Division of Graduate Medical Sciences (1991–1992), followed by his Doctor of Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine (1993–1997). His dual focus on advanced medical science and clinical training prepared him to pursue a career centered on surgical innovation and the management of complex reconstructive challenges.

Residency Training

After completing medical school, Dr. Christy undertook a General Surgery Internship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York (1997–1998), followed by comprehensive residency training in General Surgery at the same institution (1998–2000), and then specialized training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, also at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (2000–2003). During his residency years, he gained extensive exposure to the full breadth of plastic surgery, from aesthetic procedures to microsurgical reconstruction, trauma management, and the problem-solving skills required in high-acuity surgical settings.

Fellowship Training

Dr. Christy pursued advanced subspecialty training through a Fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Los Angeles County Hospital (2003–2004). This focused fellowship deepened his mastery of microsurgical technique and hand reconstruction, equipping him to manage the most delicate and complex tissue repairs.

Board Certification and Professional Credentials

Dr. Christy holds board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and maintains Fellow status with the American College of Surgeons (FACS). These credentials affirm that Dr. Christy has satisfied the most demanding standards of medical knowledge, surgical competency, and professional ethics—and remains committed to lifelong learning and periodic recertification to sustain excellence.
