Rhinoplasty Revision
Rhinoplasty revision surgery, or secondary rhinoplasty, is a procedure designed to help patients who have had nose surgery before and are either unhappy with the aesthetic results or are not experiencing proper functionality. Many of our plastic and reconstructive surgeons have attended some of the most prestigious medical institutions in the world, including Harvard University, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, McGill University in Montreal, University of Toronto, and the Gloucester Royal Hospital in Gloucester, England. Doctors at New York Plastic Surgical Group, a Division of Long Island Plastic Surgical Group can address aesthetic and functional problems stemming from a previous rhinoplasty surgery to give you results that look natural and provide a better cosmetic balance with other facial features.
Please contact us to schedule a consultation for rhinoplasty revision surgery at one of our practices in New York City or Long Island.
About Rhinoplasty Revision Surgery
Revision rhinoplasty procedures are very complex and require the extraordinary skills and abilities offered experienced plastic surgeons. The procedure typically involves the reconstruction and reshaping of cartilage and bone with grafts taken from the ear or the rib. Care is taken to ensure that proper breathing function is restored and/or your aesthetic goals are achieved. Procedure time will vary on the extent of treatment that’s necessary; however, secondary rhinoplasty procedures typically take longer than primary rhinoplasty procedures to complete.
Rhinoplasty Revision Recovery
Patients should expect similar recovery experiences with rhinoplasty revision surgery as they had with their original rhinoplasty. The head will need to be elevated for at least one day after surgery, and the nose should be protected from potential harm in the next few months. Swelling should be about 75 percent gone after about a month, and any residual pain and discomfort in the days following surgery can be controlled with medication. Patients should refrain from blowing their nose for at least a week after rhinoplasty revision surgery. Normal daily routines can typically be resumed after about one week.
Rhinoplasty revision surgery can do wonders to helping you address problems you may be having from a previous surgery. One of our plastic surgeons will discuss your options with you in detail at your initial consultation, and together, you can decide which course of action for treatment will be best for your needs.
