Undergraduate Education

Dr. Kim earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, Health, and Society from Cornell University (2006–2009), establishing a strong foundation in biological sciences and research methodology that would shape his future clinical and academic pursuits.

Medical School

Dr. Kim earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia (2010–2014), where he developed the clinical knowledge and surgical acumen essential to his specialty.

Residency Training

Following medical school, Dr. Kim completed a General Surgery Residency at Icahn School of Medicine in New York (2014–2015), followed by specialized training in Diagnostic Radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital (2015). Following his radiology year, Dr. Kim completed a three-year Research Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Yale School of Medicine (2015–2018), under the supervision of Dr. Deepak Narayan. He then completed a comprehensive Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital (2018–2024).

Fellowship Training

Dr. Kim completed a prestigious Hand Surgery Fellowship at New York University (2024–2025), one of the nation’s leading institutions for hand and upper extremity surgery. This specialized training focused on nerve repair, trauma reconstruction, and functional restoration of the upper extremity, enhancing his expertise in complex hand reconstruction and microsurgical techniques.

Dr. Kim received the Ohse Grant Program Innovator Award from Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery (2017–2018) for his research on bacteriophage therapy to treat Staphylococcus aureus infections on allografts, demonstrating his commitment to innovative surgical solutions and advancing the field through evidence-based research.
