Thigh Lift
Thigh lift surgery at New York Plastic Surgical Group, a Division of Long Island Plastic Surgical Group can address a variety of concerns with our patients’ overall aesthetic by slimming the inner and outer thigh, and the areas around the hips and knees. Our patients typically desire a thigh lift because the skin around the legs has lost its elasticity due to the natural aging process, or fat deposits have been left behind following dramatic weight loss. Regardless of the reasons behind wanting a thigh lift, our surgeons can address these issues through the consultation process, and help our patients decide on which procedures will provide the youthful, natural-looking appearance they desire.
A thigh lift is often performed in conjunction with liposuction as part of the reshaping process, for some patients this is part of a post major weight loss surgery. Our experienced thigh lift surgeons have attended some of the most prestigious and respected medical institutions in the world, and are committed to providing you with a more toned overall aesthetic supported by thinner thighs and legs that look and feel natural. At New York Plastic Surgical Group, you will be treated by a team of professionals dedicated to your individual enhancement goals, safety, and satisfaction.

Thigh Lift Procedure
Under general anesthesia, the thigh lift procedure takes about two hours. An incision is made just below the bikini line, so as to remain inconspicuous and conceal the scar. The length of the incision depends on the amount of excess skin. Typically, your surgeon will use liposuction to remove any stubborn pockets of excess fat in the thighs and legs, then pull the skin tight and draw it together to create a smooth appearance. Deep sutures and compression garments are usually used to reduce the tendency of the skin to fall down and ensure a quick healing process.
Thigh Lift Procedure
While some patients can return home within several hours following the procedure, most find they are more comfortable staying overnight. Bruising, swelling, and some pain can be expected, but this can be managed with medication. Some patients are able to return to some basic activities within the first week, but most typically return to daily routines within two to three weeks. The stitches are usually removed after 10 days; however, you should plan on missing work for a full week to avoid overexertion.
Our plastic surgeons will discuss your specific needs during recovery in further detail throughout the consultation and surgical process, but stress that it is important to remember every patient reacts to surgery and heals differently.
