Louis H. Riina, MD, FACS
July 13, 1962 – April 6th, 2019
Dr. Louis Riina became a partner at Long Island Plastic Surgical Group in 2001. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Delaware in 1983 and obtained his MD at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel-Aviv, Israel. He went on to complete a surgical internship at Staten Island University Hospital, as well as a fellowship in Burn Surgery at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. He completed his training during a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at Nassau University Medical Center.
Dr. Riina performed a variety of plastic surgery procedures, with a special interest in wound care and burn management. He was a member of the American Burn Association and the International Wound Healing Society, and held faculty positions with the Burn Center at Nassau University Medical Center and the Wound Care Center at Southside Hospital. Dr. Riina was also actively involved in training plastic surgery residents at Nassau University Medical Center, advancing education in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Riina authored several publications and gave numerous presentations to medical communities across the country. He was involved in the Clinical Trials Division at Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, to improve techniques in burn management, and make procedures safer.
