Burns and Complex Wound Management

The LIPSG Burns and Complex Wound Management Center performs life-changing reconstructive surgery for patients requiring limb reattachment, complex wound care, burn management, treatment for dog and other animal attacks, and reconstructive surgery. Procedures range from low-complexity direct wound closure treatments to more complicated operations such as microsurgery and peripheral nerve repair and severed limb reattachment. Doctors from the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group established and oversee the Burn Center at Nassau University Medical Center, and many of our surgeons are members of the American Burn Association.  Many of LIPSG surgeons are specialty-trained in microsurgery and burn reconstruction, and our physicians are continuously involved in educational and practical applications of the latest, most state-of-the-art techniques in treating the immediate and long-term effects of burns and severe wounds.

Burn and Wound Care

Reconstructive surgery may be necessary to correct severe wounds. Procedures range from low-complexity direct wound closure treatments to more complicated operations such as microsurgery and peripheral nerve repair and severed limb reattachment.

Procedures

Reconstructive surgery requires complex planning and patients may need to undergo a series of procedures done in stages. The size, nature, and extent of the injury will determine which procedure will be best for the individual patient and what the recovery process will entail.
