Dr. Alexander B. Dagum received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa, where he graduated first in his class. He completed his surgical internship at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in his hometown of Ottawa. Dr. Dagum continued his medical training at the University of Toronto, where he completed his early residency years in both neurosurgery and general surgery.

Currently, Dr. Dagum is a tenured Professor of Surgery at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. At Stony Brook he served as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Interim Chair of Surgery, and Co-Director of the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Program. He subsequently joined New York Plastic Surgical Group where he continued to focus on adult and pediatric reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery and served as the prior Program Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency and Fellowship Program.

Dr. Dagum enjoys giving back, as he has been involved in global missions including multiple surgical trips. He is currently serving on two boards of volunteer organizations, Smile Rescue Fund for Kids and Blanca’s House. He has sponsored and brought many kids from overseas to Long Island to receive craniofacial surgeries, where he has performed plastic surgical reconstruction to help restore their lives.

Aside from his work, Dr. Dagum enjoys skiing, biking and surfing and is an avid outdoors person.

Dr. Dagum has office hours in Port Jefferson, Babylon, and Garden City.
