At Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, breast cancer awareness extends far beyond the month of October. In fact aside from routinely performing the most state-of-the-art reconstructive procedures, many of our physicians also offer presentations and educational talks throughout the year.

This month, two of our talented surgeons, Dr. Irena Karanetz and Dr. David Mattos, both participated in initiatives that were geared toward Spanish speaking audiences.

On June 9th, Dr. Karanetz joined in on an interactive discussion with Adriana Valencia, a bilingual social worker at Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, to speak about the personal decision of reconstruction after breast cancer surgery.

The following week, Dr. Mattos hosted a forum on Zoom to the community at Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline to discuss the topic of breast reconstruction after mastectomy. During the workshop he touched on everything from patient options and expectations to what questions patients should be asking in preparation of their decision.
