The surgeons of the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group recently held their 3rd annual Breast Cancer Summit. The event focused on educating attendees on the latest innovations in breast cancer treatments.

New York, NY – Shortly after its inception, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group began directing a plastic surgery residency program as part of the organization’s commitment to education—a central component to the practice’s philosophy. Three years ago, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group initiated an annual Breast Cancer Summit to increase breast cancer awareness while simultaneously educating attendees on the latest techniques and technologies for treating patients.

The 2013 Breast Cancer Summit, now in its third year, was held on September 30th at Coral House in Baldwin, NY. The 500 attendees, including physicians, medical staff, breast cancer survivors, and advocacy group members, gathered to share their individual approaches to breast cancer and collectively learn from each other’s unique experience. Topics that were covered during the 2013 Breast Cancer Summit include:

Increasing breast cancer awareness is particularly important to this Long Island plastic surgery practice, as Long Island has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the nation. These surgeons have a long history of helping women weigh their breast reconstruction options, selecting a shape and size that will look and feel natural, navigating insurance coverage, and providing the compassionate care patients deserve.
