Post Weight Loss Body Contouring With Dr. Brian Pinsky: Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) And Upper Thigh Lift
Video Transcription
Dr. Brian Pinsky : Dr. Brian Pinsky with the New York Plastic Surgical Group. Just continuing our discussion about post weight loss body contouring, we’ve already discussed the trunk. We’ve discussed the breasts and upper back.
Finally, the areas that are often addressed with patients would be the upper arms and thighs.
For an upper arm, it’s considered an upper arm lift called brachialplasty.
Most commonly, there’s a scar that extends in the medial bicep, which extends down through the armpit, almost onto the lateral trunk. And that will address the loose hanging skin of the upper arm.
This can be combined with liposuction of the outer part of the arm to contour and highlight the musculature to give you a more athletic looking appearance. This is something that patients will often do, and this can be combined with other procedures such as a breast lift in certain circumstances.
We like to limit the amount of time in the operating room to about the six-hour mark, so these procedures can be tailored together depending on your individual desires.
Then finally, we have the medial thigh lift, which will address that excess skin and laxity of the inner thigh. Sort of extending between the knee and up to the groin crease. Typically, the scar will extend up the medial aspect of the thigh and then into the groin and sort of an L-shaped or hockey stick shaped incision, and again involves removal of all that extra medial thigh skin and extra fatty tissue.
