ReSurge International is an organization that has been providing reconstructive plastic surgical care since 1969. They treat patients in developing countries where life-saving treatments, as well as basic medical care, are often unavailable and unaffordable.

Long Island Plastic Surgical Group is extremely thankful for our thriving partnership with ReSurge International, and celebrates their impactful mission and global accomplishments throughout the year. On Saturday, October 6th, we will celebrate one of our physicians who is being recognized by this honorable organization for his commitment to patients all around the world.

Dr. Thomas Davenport has been involved with ReSurge International since 2000 when he was awarded the Jerome P. Webster Fellowship, which allows newly-trained plastic surgeons to work at ReSurge sites around the world for one year. In that year, he was able to improve lives in many countries including Nepal, Vietnam, Brazil, the Philippines, Mexico, India, Ecuador and Nicaragua.

Since then, Dr. Davenport has been elected a member of the ReSurge Board of Directors and has continued to volunteer on ReSurge mission trips. He not only provides surgical care to patients who are suffering from injuries that limit their mobility, basic capacity, or ability to work, but also shares his experience and expertise with the local medical staff to improve the community’s medical capabilities.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Davenport on receiving the Donald R. Laub Humanitarian Award, honoring his humanitarian efforts towards the underserved, at ReSurge International’s 11th Annual Transformations Gala. We are very proud of his service and accomplishments.
